Meet the Governors

Beech Grove Primary School

School Governor Information

Reverend Sue Richardson (Co-Chair of Governors)
I was born in York, but have lived in Middlesbrough for 14 years and love it. I am vicar of St Oswalds and St Chad’s Church, as well as having served as a Governor at both Marton Grove and Beechwood Primary Schools before it became Beech Grove Primary School for 14 years too. I share my life with a loopy lurcher puppy called Phoebe and fred the Eternal Goldfish. I like to read and enjoy hearing our children read when I can too.

Craig Wright – (Co-Chair of Governors)
Craig is an Assistant Principal at a secondary school in Middlesbrough. He passionately believes that all children deserve a good school and as a governor at Beech Grove he sees every day the impact good teachers have on students. Craig was born in Middlesbrough and grew up here. He moved away to study before beginning his career in County Durham where he taught RE & Sociology. Craig returned to Middlesbrough to lead RE & SMSC at Ormesby School before joining the senior leadership team at Outwood Academy Ormesby. As a governor Craig is interested in driving outcomes for students, quality of teaching & learning and supporting leadership at Beech Grove. Favourite Book: It’s impossible to pick just one! I am a huge Harry Potter fan having read every book as a teenager. Hard Choices by Hillary Clinton is an equally excellent choice, I’m always inspired by powerful women!

Richard Speakman (Co-opted Governor)
I have been a governor for over 20 years at this school. I live in the local area but work at North Yorkshire Timber at Brompton on Swale. I visit the school on a regular basis to check the progress of the pupils by going in to the classes. I do not have a favourite Book but a favourite author which is Clive Cussler.
