This week in Jigsaw, we have been learning about Road Safety. We went for a walk in the local area and practised walking safely across the road using Stop, Look, Listen.

This week in Art, we created our own 3D sculptures using junk materials.

This week in Maths, we have been measuring using ml to follow potion recipes, then we created our own potions.

We had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day! We started the day listening to ‘Fox and Son Tailers’ and made our own tails. We went into the hall to meet Allison Potter – Literacy Adviser, who gave the children a free book. We played a ‘Guess what?’ book game, made Bluey’s Grandma’s glasses, played book character I Spy and found unusual places to read our books. We made World Book Day kites and drew our favourite book characters on them. We ended the day, relaxing with some Cbeebies stories.

This week in Art, we have been looking at sculptures. We created our own 3D sculptures using paper, playdough, salt dough, natural materials and Lego.

This week, we are so proud of Faizan. He has been working so hard in RWI with his letter formation. Well done Faizan!

This week, we have been completing activities each day to celebrate Children’s Mental Health week. We made our own fidget toys, completed Yoga sessions and daily exercises. We talked about how to keep ourselves fit and healthy in school and out of school.

This week, in Jigsaw, we talked about how we feel when we are successful and how this can be celebrated positively. We worked in pairs to design a pair of wellies– the children had to talk and listen to each other, deciding together how they would design the wellies.

This week, AS1 have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. We have been doing arts & crafts, helped to prepare and make a three course meal and did a Dragon Dance.

This week, in Science, we’ve talked about seasonal weather changes. We went out into the Secret Garden and looked for signs of Winter. We spotted deciduous trees, frost and ice.

This week, we joined the whole school Music assembly. We are so proud of AS1. They listened to the music and had a good go at joining in with the words and actions. Well done!

This week, in Art, we have been looking at the artist, John Constable. We looked at some of his paintings and used them as inspiration to create our own paintings.

This week, in Maths, some of the children have been measuring using standard units. We were measuring objects that were less than and greater than one metre long. The boys did a great job!

This week, in Geography, we have been leaning about how to improve our area. We went out onto the playground and found 20 pieces of litter. We talked about the importance of encouraging people to put litter in the bin.

AS1 Wonderful work- Max worked independently to write expanded sentences. Well done!

This week, in DT, we designed our own fruit salads. We made a shopping list, bought the fruit and then made our own fruit salads back at school.

This week, in Art, we have been creating paintings using different media, paintbrushes and adding texture for effect. Once we had explored the tools, we then created our own Vincent Van Gogh, Starry Night pieces of artwork.

This week, in Science, we looked at the properties of materials. The children did a great job looking at different materials and used their sight and touch to describe the properties.

This week, in PE, we have been following different pathways. We completed a car warm up moving fast and slow, played ‘Spaceships and Aliens’ using cones and played a team beanbag game. The children worked hard to listen to and follow instructions.

The children have had a great start to the year settling back into the routine of school. This week we have been exploring and labelling fruit. We have learnt that some fruit has: skin, rind, seeds, flesh and pith.

This week, we have been looking at our new topic ‘Superheroes.’ We discussed what real and make believe heroes we already know and those we would like to learn more about. We learnt about Florence Nightingale, a nurse who saved many lives and worked to make hospitals safer and cleaner.
