Autumn Term 2017

Head Teacher’s Message

The start of another new school year! We extend a special welcome to our new starters in reception and to those who have joined us further up school. Our aim, as always is to build strong partnerships with parents so that by supporting each other we can ensure that the children receive the best education and care possible. We ask that you encourage your children to work within our school rules and procedures, and bring any concerns you have to our attention.

Our work for this term

We will all be working at our individual levels in our new Read, write Inc. groups every morning. Back in our classes we are learning how to use adjectives (describing words) to make our writing more interesting and using ‘and’ to join two sentences. We will be writing poems and a recount of our trip to the park. We will be doing lots more writing in our topic work too.

We will be doing lots of work on number, counting on and back in 1s, 2s and 10s. We will be learning to add and subtract. We are even beginning to multiply and learning our 2 and 10 times tables. Please practise with us at home and help us to remember the names of coins and notes. We need lots of practise with this. Also look out for our rapid recall tests being sent home. Are our scores getting better each time?

In Autumn 1 our topic is Super Heroes. We will be learning about our senses through investigations. We will also be learning about what makes our bodies the wonderful things they are.
In Autumn 2 we are learning about the weather.
